Skanska Pays $20M To Settle Contractor Scheme Probe

Law360, New York (March 31, 2011, 8:31 PM EDT) -- Federal officials announced Tuesday that Swedish construction giant Skanska has agreed to pay roughly $20 million to avoid criminal charges in New York associated with a scheme to secure government contracts for minority-owned and disadvantaged businesses.

U.S. officials announced the unsealing of charges in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against the owners of Environmental Energy Associates Inc. for allegedly faking that it had done more than $26 million worth of work for for New York City-area transportation projects.
