UK Court Trims Recruiter Cartel Fine To $9.5M

Law360, New York (April 1, 2011, 5:53 PM EDT) -- A British appeals court slashed a price-fixing fine against construction recruitment firm Hays PLC to £5.88 million ($9.5 million) from £30.36 million Friday after concluding the penalty far exceeded the size and effect of the company's activities.

The U.K.'s Competition Appeal Tribunal also trimmed similar fines against Eden Brown Ltd. from £1.07 million to £477,750 and against CDI Corp. and one of its units from £7.6 million to £1.54 million.
