NJ Casino Fired Cocktail Waitresses Over Looks: Suit

Law360, New York (April 1, 2011, 7:25 PM EDT) -- Seven former cocktail waitresses on Thursday sued Atlantic City gambling destination Resorts Casino Hotel and its new owner, David Gomes, for discrimination, claiming they were fired because they did not look young enough, slender enough or “feminine” enough.

The lawsuit, filed in New Jersey Superior Court, alleges the defendants violated state laws prohibiting gender and age discrimination when they laid off the waitresses after a sham audition process and hired younger, thinner replacements.
