Vitro US Units Request Chap. 11 Protection

Law360, New York (April 6, 2011, 8:40 PM EDT) -- Four U.S. subsidiaries of glassmaker Vitro SAB asked a Texas bankruptcy court for Chapter 11 protection Wednesday despite Vitro's earlier contention that it was not in financial trouble.

Mexico-based Vitro asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas to grant its subsidiaries — Vitro America LLC, Super Sky International Inc., Super Sky Products Inc. and VVP Finance Corp. — Chapter 11 protection so it can sell their assets to private equity firm Grey Mountain Partners LLC.
