Foreign Depositions OK'd In Afghan Kickback Case

Law360, New York (April 7, 2011, 5:53 PM EDT) -- An Afghan construction contractor embroiled in a kickback scandal with U.S. soldiers at Bagram Airfield won a bid Wednesday to take up to 17 depositions in Afghanistan, despite objections from the U.S. government, a defense attorney said.

Judge Richard L. Puglisi of the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii issued an order from the bench granting the motion, according to Kirby D. Behre of Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP, attorney for contractor AZ Corp. and John Ramin, a defendant in the case....
