T-Mobile Tie-Up Won't Hurt Competition, AT&T CEO Says

Law360, New York (May 11, 2011, 2:14 PM EDT) -- AT&T Inc.'s chief executive argued before a U.S. Senate panel Wednesday that his company's possible $39 billion tie-up with T-Mobile USA Inc. would improve service quality, foster innovation and increase competitive pressures in the wireless industry.

In a statement before the Senate Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on antitrust competition policy and consumer rights, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson called the U.S. wireless marketplace the "most competitive in the world" and said the proposed acquisition would not change that.
