Former Ohio Judge Seeks New Trial In Kickback Suit

Law360, New York (April 8, 2011, 4:44 PM EDT) -- A former Ohio state judge is seeking a new trial in the wake of her conviction for making false statements to FBI agents investigating a scandal involving kickbacks for government contracts.

Former Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Bridget M. McCafferty filed a motion Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. She was convicted on March 25 on 10 counts of making false statements, which have a maximum sentence of five years in prison per charge.
