9th Circ. Affirms Bar On Ariz. Immigration Law

Law360, New York (April 11, 2011, 4:50 PM EDT) -- The Ninth Circuit on Monday backed a preliminary injunction blocking key portions of Arizona’s controversial immigration law from taking effect while the courts grapple with the U.S. government’s challenge to the legality of the statute.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit upheld the preliminary injunction on Monday, agreeing with Judge Susan Bolton of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona that the U.S. had sufficiently shown that portions of the statute were likely preempted by federal law, entitling the federal government...
