DC Comics Loses Bid For 'Superman' Heirs' Docs

Law360, New York (April 11, 2011, 6:40 PM EDT) -- A California magistrate judge refused Monday to force the heirs of the creators of "Superman" to turn over a consent agreement about negotiating rights to the popular superhero character from an earlier lawsuit with DC Comics.

Magistrate Judge Ralph Zarefsky of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California rejected DC's claim that the agreement — in which the heirs of Jerome Siegel and Joseph Shuster vowed not to enter copyright agreements with the comic publisher without the consent of both groups of rights...
