Ex-Massey Foreman Pleads Guilty To Inspection Lies

Law360, New York (April 13, 2011, 7:14 PM EDT) -- The ex-foreman of a Massey Energy Co. affiliate pled guilty Wednesday to charges that he lied on safety inspection reports at a West Virginia coal mine where an explosion later killed 29 miners.

Thomas Harrah waived his indictment and pled guilty in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia to making false statements to an FBI agent and another investigator, as well as in inspection reports he submitted to the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration.
