ConocoPhillips Dodges Union 76 Rent-Hike MDL

Law360, New York (April 14, 2011, 6:02 PM EDT) -- ConocoPhillips Co. on Wednesday won a motion to dismiss multidistrict litigation in California accusing the oil giant of unfairly raising the rent on a slew of Union 76 gas station franchisees and accepting illegal kickbacks from credit card processors.

Judge Ronald M. Whyte of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California dismissed all of the claims on plaintiffs’ second amended master complaint without leave to amend, but left the door open for plaintiffs to file new claims.
