Delay Sought In Case Over Katrina Cleanup Contracts

Law360, New York (April 18, 2011, 7:37 PM EDT) -- Both the U.S. government and a Mississippi official who allegedly received kickbacks on federal money earmarked for Hurricane Katrina cleanup contracts asked a judge last week to stay a civil forfeiture case while a criminal investigation is ongoing.

In a motion filed April 11, Roger and Sharon Ladner said that continuing the $1.3 million forfeiture action would "burden [their rights] against self-incrimination in the related investigation."
