FTC Greenlights AGL Resources' $2.4B Nicor Buy

Law360 (April 19, 2011, 3:29 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission granted an early termination Monday to its antitrust review of natural gas distributor AGL Resources Inc.'s $2.4 billion purchase of competitor Nicor Inc., which could push AGL onto the Fortune 500 list.

The FTC said it had accepted the companies' request for an early termination, meaning the agency has completed its antitrust review of the cash and stock deal under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act and decided not to take any enforcement action during the statutory waiting period.
