Judge Releases PR Papers In Syngenta Herbicide Suit

Law360, New York (April 21, 2011, 5:00 PM EDT) -- An Illinois judge on Wednesday ordered Syngenta Crop Protection Inc. to release previously undisclosed public relations documents, saying the company sought to mitigate fallout from a class action over herbicide contamination water by disparaging the court where it was sued.

Circuit Judge William A. Mudge of Madison County ordered the release of several documents that were previously held back because Syngenta said they were privileged communications from so-called litigation consultants, including a 2005 proposal from PR firm Jayne Thompson & Associates Ltd.
