Amazon, Google, Others Sued Over Data Retrieval IP

Law360, New York (April 25, 2011, 2:10 PM EDT) -- Patent holder Document Management Systems LLC filed suit Friday in Texas against a number of technology heavyweights, including Inc., Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc., claiming their search engines and data retrieval systems violate its patent.

The complaint alleges the defendants’ search engines and databases, including Amazon’s Alexa search engine, Google products labeled Google Search, and Yahoo’s Web search and AltaVista search engine have all infringed a DMS patent for an information storage, searching and retrieval system for very large collections of archived textual data....
