Dish Closes $320M Blockbuster Buy After Judge's OK

Law360, New York (April 26, 2011, 3:17 PM EDT) -- Dish Network Corp. closed its $320 million purchase of Blockbuster Inc. on Tuesday after the bankrupt video rental chain won a New York bankruptcy judge's approval of some last-minute tweaks to the deal's terms.

The parties swiftly sealed the deal the same day U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Burton R. Lifland signed off on their amended and restated asset purchase agreement, which gives Dish an extra 90 days after closing to decide which of Blockbuster's unfulfilled contracts and unexpired store leases it will take over.
