Safeway Failed To Pay Asst. Managers OT, Suit Says

Law360, New York (April 27, 2011, 12:41 PM EDT) -- Safeway Inc. was slapped with a class action in California on Tuesday accusing the grocery store chain of failing to pay second assistant managers proper overtime compensation.

Safeway and subsidiary The Vons Cos. Inc. misclassified named plaintiff Selena Rivera and the other members of the proposed class as exempt from state overtime pay requirements, according to the complaint. The defendants own and operate more than 500 grocery stores in the Golden State, the complaint says.
