Skadden Reps Exelon In $7.9B Constellation Energy Deal

Law360, New York (April 28, 2011, 1:05 PM EDT) -- Electric utilities behemoth Exelon Corp. said Thursday it would buy fellow power company Constellation Energy Group Inc. for $7.9 billion in a stock-for-stock transaction that would create the nation's largest competitive power generator.

Chicago-based Exelon, already the country's largest owner and operator of nuclear power plants, said that combining its clean energy capabilities with Constellation's customer base should help the company weather the changing environmental regulations and economic hurdles now challenging the power industry.
