FedEx Triumphs In Split Shift Wage Suit

Law360 (April 29, 2011, 2:50 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Thursday handed FedEx Corp. victory in a wage class action, ruling that state labor laws covering split shifts do not require the company to pay higher-paid employees for an extra hour at minimum wage.

U.S. District Judge Thelton Henderson agreed with FedEx that employees were only entitled to a split shift premium if their total daily wages were less than the sum of wages for the actual hours worked plus an additional hour.
