Express To Pay $4M To End Meal, Rest Break Action

Law360, New York (April 29, 2011, 6:44 PM EDT) -- Express LLC received preliminary approval from a California state judge Monday for a $4 million settlement in a class action accusing the clothing retailer of failing to provide employees with meal and rest breaks.

Judge James P. Kleinberg conditionally certified a settlement class of approximately 15,000 hourly Express workers in California — including co-managers and store managers — employed between Jan. 1, 2007, and the date of the preliminary approval order.
