Dish, EchoStar Settle TiVo DVR Patent Suit For $500M

Law360 (May 2, 2011, 1:34 PM EDT) -- Dish Network Corp. and EchoStar Corp. said Monday they had reached a $500 million settlement with TiVo Inc. in long-running litigation over a digital video recorder patent, in the wake of an April appeals court ruling largely siding with TiVo.

Under the terms of the settlement, Dish Network and EchoStar have agreed to pay TiVo $500 million. There will be an initial payment of $300 million, and the remaining $200 million will be paid over six equal annual installments between 2012 and 2017, the companies said,...
