Ipex Settles Plumbing Class Actions In US, Canada

Law360, New York (May 3, 2011, 5:45 PM EDT) -- Canadian plumbing company Ipex Inc. on Friday reached a $125 million cash settlement of several class actions — a multidistrict litigation in the U.S. and two suits in Canada — that allege its Kitec plumbing system fails prematurely.

U.S. District Judge Royal Furgeson signed off on a preliminary approval of the settlement for the U.S. class, which applies to all people who have owned or leased a structure that contained a Kitec System in the U.S. The plaintiffs had alleged the plumbing system undergoes dezincification, causing...
