Artists Sue CBS, CNET Over Lime Wire File-Sharing

Law360, New York (May 4, 2011, 6:25 PM EDT) -- A coalition of music and film artists said Wednesday they had filed suit in California accusing CBS Interactive Inc. and CNET Networks Inc. of contributing to mass-scale copyright infringement by illegally distributing works on peer-to-peer systems such as that of Lime Wire LLC.

The group, led by film producer and billionaire founder of Alki David, claims CBS Interactive and CNET have acted as the main distributors of Limewire software, and have promoted this and other peer-to-peer systems to profit from copyright theft.
