3 Men Cop To $8M Scheme To Defraud US Agency

Law360, New York (May 6, 2011, 4:25 PM EDT) -- Three defendants pled guilty Tuesday in California to conspiring to defraud Overseas Private Investment Corp. of $8 million in applying for a loan to Golden Sierra Partners LLC for a milling and bakery operation in Estonia.

As part of three separate plea agreements, Golden Sierra Corporate Secretary Martin William Washburn, and another defendant, Donald Daniels, pled guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering, while defendant Sergei Shkurkin pled guilty only to the former charge.
