GE To Fund Alternative Fighter Jet Engine Work

Law360, New York (May 6, 2011, 6:13 PM EDT) -- General Electric Co. said Thursday it would put up its own money to develop an alternate engine for the military’s F-35 joint strike fighter, following the government’s decision to kill funding for the project.

GE’s Fighter Engine Team — which is partnering with Rolls-Royce PLC on the project — said in a statement that it would bear all costs to continue work on the F136 engine, free of any financial commitment from the government from 2012 on.
