Raytheon Fights Retiree Benefits Award In 9th Circ.

Law360, San Francisco (May 9, 2011, 9:25 PM EDT) -- Raytheon Co. urged the Ninth Circuit on Monday to reverse a summary judgment ruling ordering it to repay millions of dollars in health insurance premiums it charged a class of workers who took early retirement.

At issue in the case is whether the defense contractor’s agreement to keep paying premiums until retirees and their spouses turned age 65 survived the expiration of collective bargaining deals struck with the union representing the employees.
