Consumers Press 9th Circ. To Undo $3B United Air Deal

Law360, San Francisco (May 10, 2011, 5:43 PM EDT) -- Plane ticket buyers told the Ninth Circuit on Tuesday that a lower court illegally failed to stop the $3 billion United Air Lines Inc. and Continental Airlines Inc. merger even though precedent required it to enjoin the deal or require divestitures.

The plaintiffs, comprised of a group of 49 commercial airline consumers, filed the lawsuit in hopes of scoring a preliminary injunction to block the merger of Continental and UAL Corp.’s United Air, which was finalized in October 2010  after receiving the blessing of the U.S....
