Ex-Army Major Pleads Guilty In Contract Bribery Case

Law360, New York (May 11, 2011, 7:13 PM EDT) -- A retired U.S. Army major pled guilty Wednesday in Texas federal court to accepting a bribe, admitting to taking $400,000 in exchange for awarding a contract to provide bottled water to U.S. troops in Iraq.

Charles J. Bowie Jr., 45, of Georgetown, Texas, pled guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nancy Stein Nowak. He faces up to 10 years in prison on the charge and has agreed to pay $400,000 in restitution to the U.S., the U.S. Department of Justice said.
