Playboy, Drake Ink Deal On 'Best I Ever Had' Dispute

Law360, New York (May 12, 2011, 1:29 PM EDT) -- Playboy Enterprises Inc. put to bed Wednesday its California copyright lawsuit claiming that hip-hop artist Drake's popular song, "Best I Ever Had," samples music from a 1970s ballad released by Hugh Hefner's now-defunct label.

U.S. District Judge Margaret M. Morrow dismissed the infringement suit without costs Wednesday, but said that the parties could petition to re-open the case within 65 days if the settlement was not consummated.
