EEOC Sues Starbucks For Firing Dwarf Barista

Law360, New York (May 12, 2011, 7:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a discrimination suit against Starbucks Coffee Co. on Wednesday in Texas over the coffee giant's alleged firing of a dwarf barista who asked for a stepladder.

Elsa Sallard lost her job as a barista at a Starbucks in El Paso, Texas, three days after she was hired, because management at her store refused to allow her either a small stool or stepladder to help her reach the cash register, the EEOC claims in a suit filed in federal court....
