Chicago Must Hire 111 Black Firefighters: 7th Circ.

Law360, New York (May 13, 2011, 10:31 PM EDT) -- The Seventh Circuit on Friday affirmed a district court's judgment ordering the city of Chicago to hire 111 black firefighters out of a class of 6,000 who claimed the city used a discriminatory hiring test.

The hired firefighters will have seniority retroactive to December 1998, and the other members of the class will split an as-yet-undetermined amount of mitigation earnings, according to the Northern District of Illinois' 2007 judgment.
