Brando Heirs Sue Harley Over 'Wild One' Boots

Law360, New York (May 17, 2011, 7:33 PM EDT) -- The trust that holds Marlon Brando's intellectual property rights sued Harley-Davidson Motor Co. Inc. in California state court Tuesday, alleging the motorcycle maker slapped the actor's name on a line of boots without permission.

Brando Enterprises LP claims that Harley-Davidson has netted significant commercial gain from a line of boots dubbed The Brando, but failed to obtain a license to use the actor's name and likeness. The complaint alleges one count of misappropriation of the right of publicity under the California Civil Code.
