Judge Chides Blagojevich Atty Over Cross-Examination

Law360, New York (May 18, 2011, 7:49 PM EDT) -- Following complaints from prosecutors, a federal judge chastised a lawyer representing former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich in his corruption retrial Wednesday for repeatedly asking a government witness questions the court had already nixed.

With jurors out of the room, U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel called defense attorney Sheldon Sorosky's continued use of questions that the judge had previously ruled out of order "an abuse of cross-examination" and later told jurors to disregard the queries, according to the Associated Press.
