RIAA Sues 750 More Alleged Music Pirates

Law360, New York (October 30, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has sued an additional 750 alleged file sharers across the U.S. for copyright infringement, including alleged music pirates on 13 university campuses.

In addition, the RIAA said it filed another 213 suits against defendants whose names were discovered through earlier legal action but have not settled suits.

The suits were filed in 33 states and the District of Columbia. All in all, nearly 6,000 lawsuits have been filed, according to estimates. The average cost of settling the claims has...
