Buzzfeed Attacks Righthaven's Copyright Campaign

Law360, Los Angeles (May 20, 2011, 6:11 PM EDT) -- Web aggregator Buzzfeed.com slammed copyright-holding company Righthaven LLC with a class action counterclaim in Colorado on Monday, alleging the company engaged in unfair and deceptive trade practices in its massive campaign of copyright infringement litigation.

The class action counterclaim represents an aggressive push back against Righthaven, which has sued hundreds of defendants, including nonprofits and individual bloggers, for allegedly using copyrighted content originally published by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Denver Post without authorization. Critics call Righthaven a copyright troll.
