Shuttle Pilot Testifies For Defense In Lidle Crash Case

Law360, New York (May 20, 2011, 7:39 PM EDT) -- A four-time space shuttle commander testified Friday in New York in a product liability trial over the plane crash that killed Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle, telling jurors that pilot error and weather conditions likely caused the accident.

The former astronaut and U.S. Navy fighter pilot Robert Gibson took the stand as a star expert on behalf of plane maker Cirrus Design Corp., in a case lodged by the families of Lidle and his copilot, Tyler Stanger.
