Judge Decertifies DirectSat Technician OT Class

Law360, New York (May 23, 2011, 7:51 PM EDT) -- A Wisconsin federal judge on Monday decertified a class of cable installation technicians who accuse DirectSat USA LLC of denying them proper overtime pay, finding that the class members' experiences were too varied to warrant collective treatment.

U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb, who had certified the case as a class and collective action and structured it to include 12 subclasses, ruled that the evidence in the case ultimately revealed substantial variations among class members, so the case could not move forward on a classwide basis....
