Leap Wireless Bashes AT&T's $39B T-Mobile Bid

Law360, New York (May 24, 2011, 6:40 PM EDT) -- Wireless service provider Leap Wireless International Inc. added its voice Tuesday to the chorus opposed to AT&T Inc.'s planned $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA Inc. from Deutsche Telekom AG, claiming the deal would reduce competition and decrease innovation in the wireless industry.

Leap President and CEO Doug Hutcheson said in a statement Tuesday that the effects of the acquisition combined with the ensuing market concentration by AT&T and the nation's No. 2 carrier, Verizon Communications Inc., is not in the public interest.
