US Moves Toward Alternative-Fueled Federal Fleet

Law360, New York (May 24, 2011, 8:05 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday directed federal agencies to aim toward purchasing only alternative-fuel vehicles by 2015, as the government bought its first 116 electric vehicles, including the Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf and Think City.

Obama set guidelines to push agencies to meet a 30 percent decrease in petroleum consumption by 2020 required under an October 2009 executive order.
