ATK Protests Loss Of $850M Ammunition Plant Contract

Law360, New York (May 27, 2011, 7:49 PM EDT) -- Alliant Techsystems Inc. filed a protest with the U.S. Government Accountability Office last week, challenging its loss of an $850 million U.S. Army contract to run an ammunition plant in Virginia.

The Army awarded the contact to U.K.-based BAE Systems PLC on May 13, retaining the company for 10 years to manage the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. The $850 million contract covers the first ten years, with options for the Army to renew in three five-year periods that could extend the deal until 2036, according to...
