Va. Woman Gets 15 Months For Iraq Bribery Scheme

Law360, New York (June 1, 2011, 12:53 PM EDT) -- The owner of Global Procurement Inc. was sentenced in Virgina on Tuesday to 15 months in prison for bribing service members to obtain lucrative contracts for military projects in Iraq.

Michelle Adams admitted in December that she and her boyfriend, retired Lt. Cmdr. Frankie J. Hand Jr., paid roughly $50,000 in bribes to obtain a pair of contracts worth more than $750.000. Prosecutors had sought a sentence for Adams of just under five years, but she received a lighter prison term in light of her cooperation...
