Motorola Blames Air France For Crash In Suit Over MDL

Law360, New York (May 31, 2011, 11:12 PM EDT) -- Motorola Inc. on Tuesday attempted to beat claims in a multidistrict litigation over the deadly June 2009 Societe Air France crash by filing a third-party suit in California federal court that blames the accident on the airline.

The technology giant is one of many companies sued in the MDL over the Air France Flight 447 crash into the Atlantic Ocean that left no survivors. Specifically, plaintiffs accuse Motorola of negligence and strict liability in designing microprocessors in flight control computers, which allegedly prevented software from functioning properly and created inaccurate data. Motorola calls that allegation "nonsensical."
