Blockbuster Canada Says Dish Deal Threatens Operation

Law360, New York (June 7, 2011, 1:28 PM EDT) -- Blockbuster Canada’s receiver filed an objection in New York bankruptcy court on Monday claiming that Blockbuster Inc. is trying to terminate intellectual property licenses that are crucial to the continued operation of the bankrupt brick-and-mortar video chain's Canadian arm.

The objection was lodged by Grant Thornton Ltd., which was appointed receiver for Blockbuster Canada in May in an Ontario court after Blockbuster Inc. sold its assets to Dish Network Corp.
