Roche, Genentech Sued Over Encryption Patent

Law360, New York (June 9, 2011, 6:14 PM EDT) -- Security technology company Network Signatures Inc. sued Roche Diagnostics Corp. and Genentech Inc. on Tuesday in California federal court for allegedly infringing its marquee patent on computer encryption technology.

The two are accused of infringing U.S. Patent Number 5,511,122, a patent on digital authentication taken out by the U.S. government's Naval Research Laboratory and licensed exclusively to Network Signatures. The companies are the latest in a long list of defendants Network Signatures has sued over the patent, including American Airlines Inc., 3M Co., Goldman Sachs Group...
