Ford Ordered To Pay $2B In Truck Dealer Class Action

Law360, New York (June 10, 2011, 8:23 PM EDT) -- An Ohio state judge on Friday ordered Ford Motor Co. to pay $2 billion to a class of more than 3,000 franchisees for unfairly concealing wholesale price discounts from certain dealers, causing them to overpay for large commercial trucks.

Westgate Ford Truck Sales Inc. filed suit in Ohio state court in 2002 claiming that between 1987 and 1997, Ford set different discounts on wholesale prices for different stores and certain dealers, depending on how much customer information they gave the automaker.
