AstraZeneca Sued Over Seroquel Promotions

Law360, New York (May 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Three health funds have filed a lawsuit against AstraZeneca alleging the pharmaceutical company has promoted its antipsychotic drug, Seroquel, for off-label uses, and that doctors have been prescribing it instead of less expensive and more effective drugs for some conditions.

The proposed class action lawsuit, which was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, alleges racketeering activity, violations of the New Jersey consumer fraud law, unfair and deceptive acts and practices and unjust enrichment, among other things.
