Righthaven's Copyright Suit Against Political Site Tossed

Law360, New York (June 14, 2011, 9:37 PM EDT) -- A Nevada federal judge on Tuesday threw out Righthaven LLC's copyright infringement suit against an online political forum, undercutting the plaintiff's plan to sue under copyrights it bought from media companies.

Righthaven, a so-called copyright troll that purchased the rights to enforce copyrights on content originally published by several newspapers, had no standing to sue the forum Democratic Underground LLC over an article snippet one of its users posted, U.S. District Judge Roger Hunt said.
