Judge Overturns Sundown Win In Spill Coverage Fight

Law360, New York (June 16, 2011, 4:38 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Thursday overturned a partial win for Sundown Energy LP in a dispute with insurer Mid-Continent Casualty Co. over who should pay for oil spill-related class actions brought after hurricanes Rita and Katrina.

U.S. District Judge Sidney Fitzwater said a jury was wrong when it found that Mid-Continent had illegally interfered with Sundown's attempts to battle off several pollution-related class actions by talking directly with claimants.
