Teachbook Wants Facebook Trademark Suit Tossed

Law360, New York (June 16, 2011, 4:18 PM EDT) -- Teachbook.com LLC, a social networking site for teachers, asked an Illinois federal court Wednesday to dismiss a trademark infringement suit against it by Facebook Inc., maintaining that the names of the two companies "bear no distinctive resemblance to one another whatsoever."

According to Facebook, Teachbook selected its name to capitalize on the company's popularity and attempt to become "Facebook for teachers." Teachbook's motion, however, claims that no one is likely to be confused by its name.
