Fluor Settles Nuclear Site Fraud Claims For $4M

Law360, New York (June 17, 2011, 5:29 PM EDT) -- A Fluor Corp. subsidiary has agreed to pay $4 million to resolve kickback and false claims allegations surrounding contracts to manage mixed radioactive waste at Washington state’s Hanford nuclear site, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Friday.

The DOJ said employees with Fluor Hanford Inc. misused government purchase cards in connection with the contract, exploiting cracks in the company's internal control system that it failed to address, and additionally solicited and accepted kickbacks in the form of cash and other benefits in exchange for making purchases...
